The Merchants Inn opened at Easter 2002 and since then has gone from strength to strength with onus being on good quality real ale and foreign beer. As you can see we take a lot of pride in serving only the best ale from all over the country and since opening we have sold over 2000 different Ales! Which has led to numerous awards including Warwickshire Pub of The Year (2003 & 2007), Rugby CAMRA Pub Of The Year (2003, 2006 & 2007) along with the Rugby Customer care award an unprecedented 4 times in a row (2003 – 2007) Our fridges are stocked with some of the finest continental beers that Europe has to offer (mainly German & Belgian) and our some of the countries best Ciders & Perries. So much so our drinks range has led to entries in The Good Beer Guide & Good Cider Guide.
But the Merchants isn’t just known for its fantastic ales, on Tuesday evenings the pub becomes a popular live music venue with the music ranging from Jazz, Swing, Acoustic and Folk.
The pub is also known as a great venue for sport viewing on our BIG screen, we regularly show live Rugby (well we are only a stones throw from The Close where the game was invented) Cricket (the pub also has its own Cricket Team), Formula 1 & Tennis. One thing you will definitely not find on the screen is Football (we pride ourselves on that fact!)
With 2 succesful Beer Festivals every year (Spring & Autumn) the pub also holds an annual Belgian Evening selling the finest Belgian beers around with Belgian food and music, 2008 also saw the pub hosting its first ever German night (in conjunction with The Rotary Club) to raise money for Macmillan cancer relief.
The pub also has a back room which we can close off and cater for up to 85-90 people for whatever the occasion, be it a Leaving do, Christmas party, Work night out.
