The Merchants Inn

Festival of Remembrance, 5th - 11th November 2018

Our November beer festival this year is appropriately themed around the end of the First World war. With 100 ales and traditional ciders, as well live music, WW1 poetry, a very interesting presentation on Rugby (the town) by local historian John Frearson and of course Dr Busker!
ALL the entertainment is free of charge, and all we ask is that you make a donation to our chosen charities for the event SSAFA and The Royal British Legion. Beer list to follow soon.

The Merchants Inn

Voted the Best pub in Britain to watch the game of Rugby in by the world renown Melrose Seven's
March 2018
The Pub of Rugby and winner of The Coventry and Warwickshire Tourism Award for Best Pub 2015
Welcome to Merchants Inn, where you'll find great beer and food but also see we're a little mad about our Real Ale and Rugby.
Nestled on Little Church Street in the heart of Rugby, there's no better place to drink great real ales and watch top live rugby.

Real Ales

We stock 4 house beers and have a selection of 4 -6 guest ales rotating regularly and we were recently awarded The 'Puritan' Pub of the Year 2015 by The Purity Brewing Co.
During a regular week don't be surprised to see as many  as 25 different ales on tap.
For Real Ale lovers we also house one of the largest independent collections of brewery memorabilia in the country!
We also have a massive range (100+) of Belgian, German and American craft beers.

The Home of The Game

When visiting the home of Rugby you'll want to visit a pub that is the heart of the game, and that's The Merchants Inn. In fact you can actually see where the game was invented right from our front door. We have very good links with Rugby School, Wasps, Leicester Tigers, Northampton Saints and The Matt Hampson Foundation.
The Merchants has a reputation for being the best place to watch live rugby. We have giant screens and an atmosphere that is second only to being there. We will be showng Aviva premiership and European cup games

We serve lunch from 12-3 Monday to Friday but our Sunday Lunch is legendary, and is very busy between 12-5 every week so book in advance. Our motto is 'Local, Seasonal, Fresh' as everything is sourced as close as humanly possible and our chefs don't bring anything in prepared - everything is made fresh.

Events & Beer and Food Festivals (check out the events diary page)

We're always busy with something happening on a regular basis including live music EVERY TUESDAY and a quiz evening on the last Monday of every month. We host 2 beer festivals per year selling over 100 ales at each and  1 cider festival per year selling over 100 ciders plus  a German beer Festival in September. Did you know that we can now take card payements over the phone, JUST CALL 01788 571119
